Titanium Alloys

Titanium Grade-1 CP

Commercially Pure Titanium Grade

Grade 1

Grade 1 titanium is the first of four commercially pure titanium grades. It is the softest and most ductile of these grades. It possesses the greatest form-ability, excellent corrosion resistance and high impact toughness.

Because of all these qualities, Grade 1 is the material of choice for any application where ease of form-ability is required and is commonly available as ROUND BARS, FORGED BLOCKS, SOLID BARS, HOLLOW BARS, PIPES, TUBES, PLATES, FLANGES. ELBOWS, BEND ETC.

USES :-

  • Chemical processing
  • Chlorate manufacturing
  • Dimensional stable anodes
  • Desalination
  • Architecture
  • Medical industry
  • Marine industry
  • Automotive parts
  • Airframe structure

Titanium Grade-2 CP

Commercially pure, or CP, titanium is unalloyed. At service temperature it consists of 100% hcp alpha phase. As a single-phase material, its properties are controlled by chemistry (iron and interstitial impurity elements) and grain size. CP Titanium is classified into Grades 1 through 4 depending on the yield strength and allowable levels of the elements iron, carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen. CP Ti Grade 2 has a minimum yield strength of 275 Mpa (40 ksi), and relatively low levels of impurity elements, which places it between Grades 1 and 3 in terms of strength.

Grade 2 is widely used because it combines excellent formability and moderate strength with superior corrosion resistance. This combination of properties makes CP Grade 2 titanium a candidate for a large variety of chemical and marine as well as aerospace and medical applications.

Generally Titanium Pipes are used in Heat-exchangers, Heat-holding components and sea-water.

Titanium Grade-5 (Ti6Al4V)

The high strength, low weight ratio and outstanding corrosion resistance inherent to titanium and its alloys has led to a wide and diversified range of successful applications which demand high levels of reliable performance in surgery and medicine as well as in aerospace, automotive, chemical plant, power generation, oil and gas extraction, sports, and other major industries. In the majority of these and other engineering applications titanium has replaced heavier, less serviceable or less cost effective materials. Designing with titanium taking all factors into account has resulted in reliable, economic and more durable systems and components, which in many situations have substantially exceeded performance and service life expectations. Titanium is available in several different grades. Pure titanium is not as strong as the different titanium alloys are.

Applications :-  Ti-6Al-4V is typically used for

Direct Manufacturing of parts and prototypes for racing and aerospace industry

Bio mechanical applications, such as implants and prosthesis

Marine applications

Chemical industry

Gas turbines
